Trauma-Informed & Healing Centered Family Engagement

Child and family outcomes improve when provider agencies and organizations authentically
engage families and youth in the planning, delivery and evaluation of their services.

This training curriculum is designed to support providers to deepen understanding of what authentic family engagement is, why it is linked to better outcomes, and most importantly, learn together to implement trauma-informed and healing-centered approaches that make our work more efficient and effective. The curriculum is a project of the Fairfax Trauma Informed Community Network and was developed by Fairfax County in partnership with colleagues at local family-led nonprofit, Formed Families Forward with funding support from the Virginia Department of Social Services Office of Trauma and Resilience Policy. This training is intended for child- and family-serving professionals, and uses video modules, interactive worksheets, and supplemental resources to provide an overview of best-practices for family engagement using a trauma-informed and healing centered lens.
